Carville, Matalin enjoy role as Big Easy boosters

NEW ORLEANS (AP) ? Having worked on opposite sides of the American political spectrum for many years, James Carville and Mary Matalin are pulling in the same direction when it comes to promoting their adopted home of New Orleans as a Super Bowl host.

Carville, a longtime Democratic strategist, and Matalin, a Republican political pundit, are husband-and-wife co-chairs of the Super Bowl host committee.

Since 2008, they've been living in a stately home two blocks off historic St. Charles Avenue in New Orleans and have been among the biggest boosters of the Big Easy's recovery from Hurricane Katrina. They've lent support to a variety of community endeavors ranging from the restoration of fragile coastal wetlands to education and economic development.

Now they hope to show that New Orleans can be a regular Super Bowl host again.
